Friday Five with Kari Pei of Interface

As Vice President of Product Design at Interface, Kari Pei uses her design expertise to bring the brand’s visions to life. By looking to the world around her for inspiration, she creates a common language on global issues such as sustainability. Kari believes that flooring can help establish a hierarchy in any given space, and that changes in color, scale, texture, and pattern can enhance the way a space feels to those who use it. DMTV Milkshake: Suchi Reddy Discusses Design Research + Neuroaesthetics

This week’s DMTV Milkshake guest is Suchi Reddy, architect and Founding Principal of award-winning studio Reddymade Architecture and Design. Reddymade spans diverse typologies from residential interiors to public installations – always with a design ethos informed by neuroaesthetics. During her DMTV Milkshake interview, Suchi discusses her research process, the meaning of neuroaesthetics, how she applies it to her work, and more.

No matter what type of project Reddymade decides to take on, Suchi and her team always approach each brief with their desired emotional response in mind. This is perhaps best exhibited through its collaborative Salone 2019 exhibition

A Dreamy Apartment Overlooking the Ocean in Zhuhai, China

T.K.Chu Design recently completed designing a model apartment located in the Zhuhai Renheng Coastal Center in Zhuhai, China. The project spans 700 m² over two floors with large, open spaces that reference the ocean it overlooks. With vast white surfaces and architectural curves, the interior feels dreamy, perfect for a couple that travels on the regular.

The curves continue in the furnishings, with the rug adding rhythm to the space as if waves were moving cross the floor.

The curved staircase twists around with stone covering each stair and glass winding its way up with the railing.

This Modern Meditation Studio Makes Us Want to Flex Our Inner Yogi

International Day of Yoga is this Sunday, June 21st so we thought we’d share this modern meditation studio that makes us want to flex our inner yogi. Designed by Verdego Design Group, the Still Life / Still Works Flagship Meditation Studio was transformed from an abandoned Baptist church into a relaxing sanctuary for guided meditation, counseling, and yoga practice. The space is equipped with spaces for one-on-one sessions, private meetings, and 50-person workshops. The reclaimed knotty Larch wood found all over the studio creates a natural, relaxing environment reminiscent of Scandinavian saunas, while the modern fixtures and custom furniture
